Harmony in Mind, Body & Spirit

FAQ

Here is a selection of the most frequently asked questions I receive about Reiki :

Q : Can anyone learn Reiki?

A : Yes yes yes!

In my experience people are drawn to learn Reiki.

You just need to find a Reiki Master with whom you connect and from whom you would like to learn. Reiki Level 1 is your entrance level to welcoming Reiki into your life.

My students come from all walks of life and from across the world too.

You just have to want to do it.

Q : Does giving Reiki make you tired?

A : No!  Once someone has been attuned to Reiki they are able to channel Reiki energy simply by thinking “Reiki on”.  It is not my energy that I am passing on during a treatment, rather I act as a conduit for the Reiki energy which flows down through my crown from the Universe and out of my hands.

Best of all, because Reiki comes through me, I get a blast of its beautiful healing energy as I pass it to someone else – the key being there is more than enough to go around!

Q : Can you give Reiki if you are blocked?

A : Yes!  As I said in the answer above we are simply conduits for the Reiki energy, channeling it from the Universe and passing it to the client / person receiving Reiki.

Q : Do you have to get the hand positions for a treatment right?

A : To the best of my knowledge the hand positions I teach my students were prescribed by Grand Master Usui and are the most effective way for Reiki to be given and received.  However, Reiki is an intelligent energy, which works with the inner knowing of the recipient to channel the energy to exactly where it needs to go – wherever that may be in mind, body and spirit.

Q : How often should I give myself Reiki?

A : I give myself Reiki every day, generally as I am settling into bed in the evening.  I find it helps me to drift off to sleep.  This may only be for 5 or 10 minutes as I fall asleep.

I also give myself a full Reiki treatment once a week and take every opportunity to share Reiki with others, either at a Reiki share or by swapping treatments with another practitioner.

Additionally Reiki is my ‘go to treatment’ if I am feeling unwell or stressed or upset etc.

Q : Are you using your own energy when you give a Reiki treatment?

A : I am often asked this question and the answer is, ‘No, absolutely not!’

Once you have received your Reiki 1 attunement you have been ‘tuned in’ to channel Reiki energy through you.  You are a conduit for Reiki.  You simply ask that Reiki is given for the highest good of all involved and think, ‘Reiki on.’  This activates Reiki to flow down from the Universe, through your crown chakra, flowing through and connecting to all your other chakras, before flowing out of your hands to the recipient.

Q : Do you need to know the solution to someone’s problems or how to heal?

A : Reiki is a wise, loving and all-knowing energy, which once activated knows exactly what is required of it.  It is not about you and your ego intervening and wanting to heal or solve specific problems.  My students know I call this the ‘butt out principle’.  Butt out and mind your own business.  Remember Reiki is working for the highest good of all involved.

I believe the Universe knows exactly what is required for the highest good.

I believe that Reiki knows exactly what is required for the highest good.

I believe that the recipient knows exactly what is required for the highest good, consciously or otherwise.

I do not believe that I have those answers for other people.

It is vital to remember I am simply a channel for Reiki to do its work.
